Jennifer Anniston makes big boo boo on Regis and Kelly

So, Jennifer Anniston made a big 'boo boo' on Daytime TV when she guest appeared on Regis and Kelly a few days ago.

The September 2010 Harper's Bazaar has Jennifer paying homage to Barbara Streisand and the photo spread is absolutely stunning. I own it, so I really know! Jennifer's mishap began when Regis referred to her homage as 'playing dressup' and Jennifer said that she plays dressup 'like a retard'. Ummm, what was she thinking? This is one of those moments when you say to yourself, 'please words, come back now!' Unlike us regular folk, usually we embarrass ourselves in front of a few people instead of in front of millions of viewers; some of which are fans. Some of those fans belong to Human Rights Organizations that do not find her 'cute' comment funny. Some of these fans are probably rethinking their support.

So, Jennifer's beautiful work is tainted with those three words 'like a retard'.

What do you think? Should the world get over it? The word 'retarded' in my opinion is a word that is worthy of being placed in the expletives column of the English language. It is a loaded word that is derogatory. If she was using it like some people use the word gay (as a word to describe being silly), maybe there needs to be a campaign to talk about the use of the word retarded to educate and create awareness.

Jennifer, though I'm sure this wasn't her intent, has provided us with an opportunity to rethink some of the words we use, without thinking and sometimes to be funny. They are hurtful and offensive. If we have the reaction when it's said on national TV, should we have the same reaction when it's being said to us 'in private'.

This one is is being filed as a 'fart in church'.

I think people need to just get over it and get the stick out of their A$$

I agree Christine. It's a good learning opportunity...I wonder if there's legal implications?

I could really care less to be honest. I like Jennifer and I won't stop being a fan.

I think she's a big twit, always have hated her since Friends and always will. This doesn't surprise me.

To the last person who called her a 'twit', you're probably just as guilty if not worse!!! She's beautiful and smart. She just made one mistake.

Can we talk about something more important?

She's a conceited self important actress.

The context is more important than the word. Everyone knows what she meant, and no one thinks she was slamming any certain group of people. It's just a word. I'd worry more about deliberate offenses. People need to be a little less sensitive, or what word will be off limits next? Smells like censorship.

I don't know anyone who hasn't used a phrase like that once or twice in their life. Like Anonymous said: look at the context, not just the word.

I can think of many words that people have used in history to describe a group of people that are no longer acceptable by society. People still use those words behind closed doors and when around mixed company will shun those words.

I am not judging. Sometimes a 'bad word' is used in 'many contexts' until a group of people make a huge statement to educate people about why it's bad to use it. If I used a particular N word and said 'I'm acting like an N', I would probably . I'm using this to explain my point that using words and excusing them because 'oh, I didn't mean it like that' can be an elitist attitude.

There has to be an easy method you can remove me from that service?
